Looking for some fun and unique things to do in Philly this weekend? We’ve got you covered.

The Barnes Foundation

There are two reasons to head to The Barnes Foundation this weekend. The first event takes place on March 3, and is dubbed the First Friday with the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra. From 6 to 9 p.m., the evening will feature live music, cocktails and bites, all leading up to a showcase by the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra, directed and conducted by Jeri Lynne Johnson.

First Friday at the Barnes includes access to the collection galleries as well, plus early access to the Barnes’ new exhibit, ‘Sue Williamson & Lebohang Kganye: Tell Me What You Remember’ before it opens to the public on March 5.

Then, on Sunday, March 5, visitors can head to The Foundation for PECO Free First Sunday Family Day for this month’s theme, the Art of Math from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This family-friendly activation delves into the world of geometry and perception by showcasing 3-D creations of Barnes paintings by students in Philadelphia and beyond. There will also be story time, live music sets, art activities and more. Visitors on this date also get access to the Barnes’ new exhibit before it opens to the public.
