Looking for some fun and unique things to do in Philly this weekend? We’ve got you covered.

Philly Flannel Fest

Set for Sunday, Oct. 25, from noon to 5 p.m., Philly Flannel Fest returns and will once again be housed in a historic Germantown textile factory reborn as a collaborative home for creatives and nonprofits (The Braid Mill). This year’s festival will transform the venue into a complete celebration of the season, with plaid fashion, live entertainment and local food, all conceived by Philadelphia’s small-business community.

Guests can showcase their take on the flannel style, while checking out live performances, seasonal cocktails, hot cocoa, local wines and  Philly food favorites alongside vendors featuring regional makers, entrepreneurs and unique businesses. Fall-inspired installations and photo backdrops will also be on site to round out the experience. Tickets (starting around $12) are available online.

Monster Mash Bloody Mary Challenge

It’s the final weekend for this year’s Monster Mash: Bloody Mary challenge, and the roster for this go-around has nearly doubled in size with 18 competing bars and restaurants, all serving up Halloween-themed riffs on the early morning sipper.

Monster Mash is pay-as-you-go, giving Bloody Mary lovers a chance to try as many as they like. Patrons can rank their drinks in categories like spice/heat, taste, vibe and spooky factor, with an overall winner taking top honors.

A current list of participating spots is available online, but patrons can mark their lists for sips from NoLibs venues like Bar 1010, Luna Marre, Terra Grill, North Bowl, Mamajuana Cafe, Ortliebs, Silk City and more.

Tricks & Treats at Pennsbury Manor

On Sunday, Oct. 25, Pennsbury Manor will open its grounds for Tricks & Treats, a free family-friendly celebration where kiddos can trick-or-treat their way around the estate, take a seat on the jury of a witch trial (inspired by a real case presided over by Penn himself), and watch a whimsical talking-gourd show.

The event will also feature old-fashioned cider pressing, pumpkin decorating, a Halloween carnival, heritage dancers showing off 17th-century moves, and a visit from Brew Note Coffee Co. Kids with food allergies can also join the fun with teal pumpkins and special prizes.  The free event runs from 1 to 4 p.m.  and costumes are highly encouraged.

35th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival

This year, the Philadelphia Film Society is celebrating not one, but two major milestones — the 35th anniversary of the Philadelphia Film Festival and 25 years as an organization.

The schedule for this year's festival (set to run through Oct. 25) includes premieres from around the world, filmmaker Q&As, special guests and partnerships with local restaurants. What makes this even more unique is that Philly is now among a select few cities in the whole country where audiences can even experience a 70mm film on the big screen. The festival will also introduce 'Fresh Air Live', a first-time collaboration with WHYY’s acclaimed NPR interview program, featuring an in-person conversation between host Terry Gross and actor, writer and director Jesse Eisenberg on Oct. 25.

The Festival offers several badge options to fit different schedules and levels of access, including VIP, All Access, First Half, Second Half, and student badges. Prices are available online.

Southwest Philadelphia Children's Free Family Festival

St. Cyprian Church is hosting a free children’s health and wellness celebration on Friday, Oct. 23. The event promises a little something for everyone with cotton candy, popcorn, face painting, live caricatures, an interactive game truck, outdoor activities, raffles and prizes. The best part is, it’s all free.

Beyond the games and goodies, the afternoon additionally offers a chance for parents and caregivers to connect with community organizations and discover health, wellness and family support resources. The celebration runs from 4 to 8 p.m. and is open to families from across Philadelphia and surrounding communities.
