Sisterly Love Food Fair
In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Sisterly Love Citywide Food Fair announced various dates and locations for their pop-up foodie event. The Food Fair is a women-led initiative to promote Philadelphia-based and female-run hospitality businesses affected by the pandemic by the way of traveling food markets—and now Philadelphians have plenty of opportunities this month to check it out.
For the grand finale for Women’s History Month, the Sisterly Love Food Fair is heading to Cherry Street Pier for the first time on Saturday, March 27. This special extended event will be hosted by Lokal Artisan Foods and French Toast Bites, who will host her official grand opening that very same weekend at the Pier. Other vendors confirmed so far include: Kismet Bagels, Fishtown Pickle Project, Queen and Rook Game Cafe, Sundry Morning Spice Co, Feel Goodies, Sazon BYOB, French Toast Bites, Cry Baby Pasta and Wine, Bridget Foys, High Street Hospitality, Jezabels Cafe, Vernick. Extended hours for the fair will be from noon to 4 p.m.

Bunny Hayrides at Linvilla Orchards
Families are invited to explore ‘Bunnyland’ at Linvilla Orchards this weekend in preparation for the Easter holiday next week. Photo opportunities will be available for those looking to snap a picture with the bunny himself, and visitors will also enjoy a story and a special treat during their allotted time. After the ride, guests can also stop by the Garden Center for Easter plants, flowers and accessories or the Farm Market for fresh bakery items or a homemade chocolate treat. The Farm Market is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, timed tickets are required and come out to be $10 per person.
The Trojan Women
The Phoenix Theatre in Chester Springs will celebrate Women’s History Month with a one-night-only performance of Euripides’ ‘The Trojan Women’, which will also act as a fundraiser for a Washington D.C. organization that helps female survivors of human trafficking. The digital curtain will rise this Thursday, March 25, at 7 p.m.
The plot of the play follows the classic story as audiences learn the fates of Hecuba, Andromache, Cassandra and other women of Troy after their city has been sacked, their husbands killed, and their remaining families about to be taken away as slaves. This particular production has been hailed as one of Euripides’ greatest works, and for the Phoenix’s one-night-only production, ‘The Trojan Women’ will be directed by The Phoenix Theatre’s Co-Founder and Development Director Jessica Myhr Reich. Tickets are pay what you can with a suggested donation of $20 a household, and a portion of the money raised going to FAIR Girls.
According to the release, FAIR (Free – Aware – Inspired – Restored) Girls provides intervention and holistic care to female survivors of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children. Through prevention education and policy advocacy, FAIR Girls also works to eradicate human trafficking and reduce systematic barriers to survivors’ healing and empowerment. The organization’s mission is deeply rooted in reducing the barriers faced by young women and girls being trafficked and assisting them, not only in safely liberating themselves, but also in having the skills, resources and support they need to remain free.

The Newark Museum of Art’s forum with Bobbi Brown
According to a release, on Thursday, March 25, renowned beauty expert, bestselling author and entrepreneur Bobbi Brown will give the keynote address at a forum for women developed by The Newark Museum of Art and the Business and Community Council. The virtual event, entitled ‘Women, Power & Promise: A Convening’, kicks off at 3 p.m. and will also include a panel of esteemed women professionals from a range of industries, including real estate, business, healthcare and politics.
The online discussion will be held from 3-5 p.m. and will open with remarks from Director Harrison, followed by introduction of the moderator, Lisa Kaplowitz: Professor & Executive Director of the Center for Women in Business at Rutgers Business School. In addition, an instructor will take guests into a mindfulness break and watch a performance piece from the revolutionary artist collective, The Guerrilla Girls. After Brown’s keynote, attendees will hear what’s next for women in 2021 in terms of gender, racial, political and economic equality. General admission is $50 for non-members, $40 for members and $25 for students.
