Lumos Yoga & Barre Workshops
There are a few different opportunities to work out both your mind and body at one Fairmount area hotspot. Lumos Yoga & Barre is offering Box & Flow, Bootcamp and Healing Meditation Soundbath classes over the course of the next few weeks, but this weekend in particular, visitors can indulge in the first two.
First, Philadelphians can join boxing coach Greg Coachman and Lumos Instructor Alli for a 30/30 Box + Flow workout ($15 or by using existing class package) on Saturday, May 1 at 11 am. According to the release, Greg will lead participants through a 30-minute boxing-inspired, HIIT-style workout that delivers a fun, safe way to do cardio, while Alli will cool down the class and stretch out the muscles that were worked with a 30-minute yoga flow.
Then, on May 2, Lumos Yoga & Barre and Triyo Fitness have teamed up to offer a high-energy, donation-based outdoor bootcamp. Starting at 9 a.m., Ahmad, Khalil, and Malik of Triyo Fitness and Lumos Instructor Lauren Leavell will lead attendees through a series of exercises to get your heart rate pumping and your energy flowing. In all, the class on Sunday is $30 to attend the bootcamp + one raffle entry (each additional raffle entry is $5) and refreshments after class will be available via The Juice Jawn Co. A full list of raffle items, featuring products from local vendors, can be found in the link below. All proceeds from this event will benefit the nonprofit Black Women’s Blueprint.

Insomnia Cookie’s Cookie Lab
We’ve all had the warm, delivered taste of Insomnia Cookies brought right to our door at one time or another, but the popular brand has a new trick up its sleeve in South Philly. According to a release, visitors to the all new CookieLab will be able to experience where the cookie magic happens while pushing the limits of cookie combinations with customizable cookies, cookie-cakes, Cookie’wiches (ice cream sandwiches), cookie-dominated milkshakes and more.
Where mad scientist meets Willy Wonka, this one-of-a-kind CookieLab, aptly hidden behind a bookshelf in the new storefront, gives flavor-makers an inside look at multiple cookie creations, access to a craft milkshake bar, indoor seating and a pick-up window. The new concept just opened last weekend, and Philadelphians are invited to check it our for themselves.
