Eight Course Tasting Menu at Zama
Zama, best known for its creative take on sushi and Omasake is now offering foodies a chance to sample eight delicious dishes with an all-new tasting menu priced at $55 per person. A few standout items include a Kaiso Salad (a seaweed salad with your choice of octopus, shrimp, snow crab or kani), Tuna Usuzukuri (thinly sliced big eye tuna with truffle, ponzu, and soy marinated wasabi stems), a Paichie Tempura Wrap (paiche, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet and spicy sauce and bib lettuce), Hamachi Tataki (seared yellowtail over an avocado maki with a red yuzu pepper sauce) and a Mini SST Hand Roll (spicy shrimp tempura with eel wrapped in soy paper.) The tasting menu also features a course with a sashimi sampler, 5 piece nigiri and mochi dessert. Additional add-ons can also be added to certain dishes such as uni for $10. The tasting menu is available during dinner for indoor and outdoor dining only (no takeout or delivery), and reservations can be made on Zama’s website.

Lauren Rinaldi in Conversation with Representative Mary Isaacson
Contemporary Artist Lauren Rinaldi will be joining in on a digital conversation with Representative Mary Isaacson this week—a long-time public servant who serves the 175th district of Philadelphia, and all Philadelphians are invited to tune in as well. Queens Village hotspot Paradigm Gallery will be hosting the discussion, which, according to the release will center around the history and current struggles of how women in politics are often perceived and critiqued for their looks, instead of their policies. The release also states that the conversation will be prompted by Rinaldi’s newest series on display at Paradigm Gallery, “Representative,” which was inspired by the feminist debate on how women’s appearances are constantly judged, criticized and dissected; often done so with the intent of diminishing their work and contributions. The discussion (free) will take place this Thursday, September 17th at 6 pm. A Zoom link to the live event will also be emailed to all ticket holders prior to the event.
Tria Fermentation School
Well-known wine and artisan bite spot, Tria Cafe has decided to launch a virtual classroom to teach all vino lovers and wannabe wine aficionados the ins and outs of fermentation. The classes will be led by Tria Wine Director Lauren Harris and will also feature rising stars of the hospitality industry from local and national acclaim. This week will hold two classes on Sept. 17 and 19. Thursday’s class is titled Tantalizing Tempranillo (7:30 pm, $75) featuring Orr Reches from Ole & Obrigado, and will focus on Spanish red wines, while Saturday’s class is titled Tour De France (8:30 pm, $75) featuring Lauren Harris and will focus on a tasting and discussion around French wines. Registered guests are asked to stop by either Tria Cafe Rittenhouse or Tria Cafe Washington West on the same day as their guided tasting to receive 2-ounce wine tasting portions in reusable plastic wine glasses, plus a Tria Cheese and Snack Box.

Movie Under the Stars
This week continues an event that will allow movie lovers to enjoy a feature film with the backdrop of the night sky. Every Thursday until October 1, Urban Farmer is inviting Philadelphians to The Logan Hotel Courtyard for a three-course dinner and movie under the stars. The event starts at 6:30 pm, is $75 per person and will include the dinner (from Executive Chef Sonny Ingui boasting braised octopus, steak frites, Skuna Bay salmon, chocolate cake and more), theater-style popcorn and the viewing of a lineup of 80s and 90s classics on an oversized projector. Those interested can also purchase VIP tickets for $100 which will include a bottle of red or white wine or a 6-pack of beer, plus an ultimate movie snack pack. Sly Fox Brewing Company, State Side Vodka and Grace Winery will also be on-site with special beverage offerings at an additional price. Tickets for this Thursday’s showing of ‘The Wedding Singer’ can be purchased on Tock and should be bought in advance due to limited capacity. Masks must also be worn.
Bourse Bootcamp
Health-conscious Philadelphians and those looking to sweat a bit while maintaining safe distances are in luck. This weekend continues Bourse Bootcamp, and this weekly socially distant workout series will be running every Saturday until September 26th. Participants are welcome to join in on the classes led by local fitness instructor, Jackie of JaxFitness, which will range from yoga, Zumba, HIIT, Pilates and more for all levels. Tickets are $10 and include the 60-minute class along with a Bloody Mary or mimosa from Grubhouse after the fact. The schedule for the classes (each starts at 9 a.m.) is available online, space is limited, and the series is also BYOM (bring your own mat.)
