An early morning gas explosion sent residents at a Chestnut Hill apartment building out into the street — and dangerous cold — Monday.
The first floor blast was reportedly due to a ruptured gas main.
Philadelphia Gas Works and Philly firefighers responded. There were no injuries reportedin the 1:40 a.m. blast in the 100 block of Benezet Street, but 10 residents were displaced.
Two othe PFD incidents
Near 5 a.m., firefighters responded to a two-alarm blaze at a Tioga rowhouse. A SEPTA bus was called for residents forced out into the cold to wait on. The fire was out within an hour, philly.com reports.
Another two-alarmer broke out an hour earlier in a West Philly medical building on South 52nd Street.
There were no injuries in either incidents.
