Greater Philadelphia YMCA providing free childcare while residents get vaccinated

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA will provide free childcare for area residents so they can get a Covid-19 vaccination, in cooperation with the White House Covid Response Team.

As Covid-19 vaccination rates have slowed, the Biden Administration and health officials have sought to eliminate barriers preventing Americans from getting vaccinated. Even as vaccine access has widely-increased, a shortage of childcare has prevented some Americans from getting their shot and accessing crucial protection for their households.

This YMCA service is free of charge, and available on a drop-in basis, now through July 4 during KidZone hours. Parents are advised to call ahead at 215-220-9199 or visit philaymca.org/locations to find the location nearest them, and confirm KidZone hours of availability and policies. Children must be potty-trained and no longer dependent on diapers. Parents will be required to sign a childcare waiver.

The YMCA encourages every resident to get vaccinated if, and when, they are able. For those with questions about the available vaccines, their safety, and related research, visit cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/keythingstoknow.html.

Donations to support the YMCA and this cause are welcome, and can be made at paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=RHEYK8RJPMJRQ
