Gym for kids, Romp n’ Roll, hopes to open 20 new locations in Philly area

A franchise specializing in early educations for toddlers and kids believe the Philadelphia area is ripe for expansion of its early education and recreation options.

“Nurture the genius, unleash the goofball” is the motto on Romp n’ Roll’s website, which has one location in Willow Grove and hopes to open up to 20 more in the region over the next five years.

Romp n’ Roll describes itself as a “modernized kids gym” for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

“Parents will always be seeking engaging, quality programs for their children, and we strive to fill that gap between learning and fun for young children,” said Michael Barnett, CEO and co-founder of Romp n’ Roll, who founded the company in 2004 along with wife Babz. “My own experiences as a parent, along with my wife’s, inspired the birth of the Romp n’ Roll brand.”

The brand hopes to expand using “strategic franchise partnerships.” The company cited a Child Trends study which found only 15 percent of the 100,000 early care and education seats in Philadelphia were deemed “high quality.”

New Romp n’ Roll franchises could fill the gap with what the company describes as “a whimsical wonderland of vivid color and imaginative design for the best early childhood classes, camps and parties available.”

The company, in announcing its expansion plan, said parents in Philly and nearby towns likeDoylestown, Springfield and King of Prussia need “supplemental early education options,” adding that “a business concept aimed at young children in their prime developmental years would never be just a fad, as parents would always be on the lookout for educational, engaging opportunities for their children.”

Franchise wide,Romp n’ Roll pulled in $2 million in sales in the U.S. and $30 million worldwide in 2015, the company said.
