It wasn’t the splash some expected, but at least it filled a need.
The Eagles sent running back Ronnie Brown to Detroit in exchange for running back Jerome Harrison and a seventh-round draft pick in 2013, just before yesterday’s 4 p.m. trade deadline.
“I’m excited to be back,” Harrison said. “The week off will be huge to get back in the playbook and start hearing the terminology again.”
Harrison, 28, was sent to the Eagles at last year’s trade deadline (Oct. 13) from Cleveland in exchange for Mike Bell.
“Jerome fits a zone scheme. He has good vision [and] instincts, [he] runs downhill and has quick feet,” GM Howie Roseman said.
Harrison gained 239 yards on 40 carries for the Birds last season. He had just 41 yards on 14 carries this season for the Lions.
Meanwhile, the Eagles reportedly shopped cornerback Asante Samuel and couldn’t find any takers.
There was also a report that said the Oakland Raiders inquired about backup QB Vince Young.
