PHILADELPHIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Authorities released video over the weekend showing a man and a SUV believed to be connected to Friday’s fatal shooting of an on-duty city sanitation worker in Mayfair.

A gunman killed Ikeem Johnson, 35, at around 10:30 a.m. as he was collecting trash near the corner of Tudor Street and Rowland Avenue, close to Abraham Lincoln High School.

The surveillance footage, distributed by investigators Saturday, shows the suspect, a man wearing dark clothing, a black mask and black Air Jordan 11 sneakers with white soles, walking on the sidewalk past empty trash cans.

In addition, the clip, which does not show the shooting, includes images of a dark 2015-to-2019 Subaru Outback with a roof rack, tinted windows and a Pennsylvania plate driven by someone other than the shooter.

Investigators do not believe the shooting was “a random act,” Mayor Jim Kenney said in a statement Friday. No arrests had been reported by the time Metro went to print Sunday.

Anyone with information about the killing is urged to contact the PPD’s Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334/3335; call or text 215-686-8477 or submit a tip at phillypolice.com/forms/submit-a-tip.

The city offers a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a homicide case.
