In honor of International Women’s Day — March 8 — here are some of the best ways to celebrate the holiday and Women’s History Month in Philadelphia.
Manayunk
Locals can celebrate Women’s History Month in Philadelphia this March in Manayunk. According to a release, dozens of local, independent and female-owned businesses are working together for the 4th year in a row to collect essential items for postpartum women and other products to support women’s health and wellness. All donations will then be donated to Grab-N-Flow for distribution through their no charge-to-the-community menstrual and postpartum product shed locations throughout the city.
Plus, this Saturday, March 8, the area will host the Manayunk Women’s Day Crawl, where visitors and shoppers can drop off donations plus, enjoy sales, sips, samples, specials, giveaways and learn about Manayunk’s women-owned businesses. A full list of participating spots can be found online.

Sor Ynez
On March 25, locals can head to Sor Ynez for the venue’s Women’s History Month Bar Takeover. Beginning at 5 p.m., Adrienne Gomez-Saddler (formerly of JG Sky High) and Amanda Melendez (Vernick Fish) will craft/serve two special cocktails, which will be revealed on Sor Ynez’s Instagram leading up to the event. Chef Alex Tellez will also be providing a menu of small bites for the event, which is pay-as-you-go and open to the public.

Hotel Ana & Bel
This chic locale is offering a special Girls Getaway Package. The experience features “a celebration of the feminine history of the hotel” with a free bottle of bubbly, two $50 gift cards to a local female-owned boutique (Vestige), a $100 food and beverage credit; in-room journals and face masks, plus, access to the hotel’s infrared sauna.

Stratus Rooftop Lounge
Every week in March, Stratus Rooftop Lounge will host different local women-owned/operated culinary and beverage purveyors for Women’s Way Wednesday. The initiative kicked off this week on March 5 with Chef Karla Torres of La Ingrata, and will continue on March 12, 19 and 26. Tickets for each event cost $35, and in addition to the curated bites, guests can also enjoy music from notable female DJs and pay-as-you-go craft cocktails, local beer, and wine.
Profits from Women’s Way Wednesdays will benefit both the nonprofit Women’s Way and the event’s partner, the Sisterly Love Collective.

Riot Nerd Philly
This women-owned and operated entertainment company is celebrating International Women’s Day with a Ladies of the 2010’s Dance Party at both Milkboy locations (1100 Chestnut St. and 401 South St.) On March 8, DJ 21SparksFly will be DJing at Milkboy on South Street ($5 for advanced tickets) and DJ RIot Meg will be DJing at Milkboy on Chestnut Street (advanced tickets $10.) Both sets will kick off at 9 p.m.

To commemorate the occasion, 15% of proceeds from Alice’s seasonal dessert (a Blood Orange Bundt Cake made with salty caramel and French vanilla ice cream) will go directly to the local nonprofit Women Against Abuse during the month of March.

Jane Gallery
This Women’s History Month in Philadelphia, locals can head to Jane Gallery to check out a new exhibit from Philadelphia-based artist Nataliya Yermolenko titled ‘Icons, Influence & You.’
The show’s opening reception will take place on Friday, March 7, from 5:30 to 9 p.m., inviting guests to experience the artwork, engage with interactive elements, and celebrate the inspiring women who have shaped history.

Colonial Theatre
The Colonial Theatre is taking this month to showcase a series of influential films celebrating trailblazing directors, actresses, compelling stories, and strong female characters.
