Jackson gearing up for camp, hush on McNabb

DeSean Jackson makes most NFL stars look like mere kids on the field. Now, he’ll be teaching his unique blend of talent and showmanship to real kids.

Starting June 28, Jackson will open his first football camp to children ranging in ages from 6 to 18 in Moorestown, N.J. (Call 877-993-5222 for info.)

“I’m looking forward to it because it’s my first camp,” Jackson said yesterday. “Like I say, it’s going to be a good experience for the kids, hands-on. I’m going to be interacting with all the kids, just having a great time.”

Jackson has often been criticized for some of his on- and off-field antics. But, Jackson gives a lot back to the community. He’s an active spokesman for the Eagles Play60 campaign, which fights youth obesity, and he’s in the process of developing children’s books aimed at helping kids deal with the dangers of society.

Jackson’s camp is another attempt at keeping local youth on the right path.

“Building a relationship with the kids, that’s the biggest thing,” Jackson said. “Shedding light to give them hope, give them the extra motivation of going out there and doing all the positive things, like staying in school and staying away from drugs.”
