Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has announced that he, alongside his Jalen Hurts Foundation, will donate $5,000 for every touchdown he scores in the 2024-25 season as a part of his Keep It Cool Initiative.
Hurts officially launched the Jalen Hurts Foundation in July of this year in an effort to support Philadelphia schools and strengthen the surrounding communities.
The initiative aims to improve and provide air conditioning in Philadelphia schools. In 2023, over 5,000 students, staff, and educators within the Philadelphia public school system were supplied with air conditioning and electrical infrastructure upgrades in 2023. Hurts has been vocal about his continued support of this initiative as it continues to be an issue for many across Philadelphia.
On Aug. 26, a heat wave caused 63 Philadelphia schools to send students home three hours early because they could not properly cool their buildings.
Hurts has already donated $200,000 this year to supply ten schools across the district with 300 air conditioning units and has already set into motion the plans for another donation. Last season, Jalen Hurst finished the year with 38 touchdowns both on the ground and through the air. So far this season, he already has two, putting him on pace for 34 touchdowns. .
In addition to the work done as a part of the Keep It Cool Initiative, the Jalen Hurts Foundation also focuses on education, encouraging financial wellness, mentoring youth, and supporting programs that uplift and support families nationwide.
