Jogger says she was sexually assaulted at gunpoint in Norristown Farm Park

The District Attorney’s Office in Montgomery County and law enforcement officials in East Norriton and West Norriton are searching for a suspected armed assailant after a woman told police she was sexually assaulted at gunpoint as she jogged through Norristown Farm Park on Tuesday morning.

According to law enforcement officials, a 19-year-old woman told police that, at about 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, as she jogged through Norristown Farm Park, along W. Germantown Pike and N. Whitehall Road in East Norriton Township, she was approached by an armed black male wearing a black mask and/or a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.

After the incident, the woman called 911, police said, saying that she had been sexually assaulted at gunpoint. Officers with the East Norriton Police, West Norriton Police and Montgomery County Detectives arrived on the scene, police said, and the woman was transported to Einstein Medical Center for treatment.

Law enforcement officials are asking anyone who might have seen a person matching the description of the suspected assailant entering or leaving the park on Tuesday to contact East Norriton Police at 610-272-0748, the West Norriton Police at 610-630-1701 or the Montgomery County Detectives at 610-278-3368.
