A man was killed and four other people were hospitalized after gunmen opened fire Tuesday night inside a Kensington garage, police said.

Officers responded at around 10:30 p.m. to the shooting, which occurred on the 3400 block of Rorer Street, according to authorities. Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters at the scene that more than 50 shots were fired.

Christian Figueroa, 39, of Holmesburg, was found suffering from several gunshot wounds to his head and body, and medics declared him dead at the scene, police said.

Authorities said a 30-year-old man was struck in his left thigh; a 27-year-old man was shot in his back and shoulder; and a 32-year-old man sustained wounds to his buttocks and leg. All three were taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

The fifth victim, a 28-year-old man, was hit in the finger and treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, according to investigators.

Preliminary reports indicate three masked gunmen carried out the shooting, Small said. No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
