Kiehl’s LifeRide for AIDS research

For Kiehl’s, it isn’t just about what’s on the outside that matters. The cosmetics corporation is known for their knowledge about skincare and beauty, but what you might not know is that the company has been a leading partner in AIDS research. Since 1996, the company has been working with groups to find a cure for the disease and this weekend one of their biggest fundraisers helps out a local organization.

On Friday, August 12, Kiehl’s will be hosting their 7th Annual Motorcycle Ride for AIDS Research outside of their store at The Shops at Liberty Place. Chris Salgardo, President of Kiehl’s, will be hosting along with celebrity bikers Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls), Gilles Marini, (Sex and the City Movie), TV host Grant Reynolds and activist Ben Cohen.

The event kicked off August 3 in New York City and goes throughout the Northeast to raise funds and awareness for The Foundation for AIDS Research. The bikers will be ending their 11-state charity ride here in Philly and to celebrate the closing of the event, a $50,000 check will be presented to Philadelphia FIGHT so they can continue their work with people living with HIV/AIDS.

The free event is open to the public and will be offering food, meet and greets with the celebrity riders, complimentary facials or hand massages, and 15% discount on all Kiehl’s purchases. The event will also be giving free HIV testing outside the store and an AIDS memorial quilt for guests to sign remembering those who have died from the disease.

By the end of this ride, Kiehl’s will have raised $1,600,000 since 2010 for AIDS research and since 2001, they have raised approximately $3,580,000 for HIV/AIDS organizations.
