PHOTOS: Trump Taj Mahal, 1990-2016

In a city he once dominated, Donald Trump’s name will disappear from another building by the end of this summer.

Though no longer owned by the Republican presidential candidate, Trump Taj MahalCasino Resortwill shutter its doors after Labor Day Weekend, its current owners said Wednesday.

The Taj opened on April 2, 1990, costing Trump a whopping $1.1 billion to build and dubbed the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”

Trump Entertainment Resorts filed for bankruptcy in 2014, and threatened to close its doors unless its unions conceded. That same year, sister property Trump Plaza closed its doors.

Two days before its planned close, Unite Here Local 54 reached a deal to save the Taj from closing. That same day, billionaire and now owner of the resort Carl Icahncommitted $20 million in financing.

IcahnEnterprises, the Icahn’sholding company, assumed ownership of the Trump Taj Mahal and retained the casino’s name.
