Lehigh County golf club to become Hindu temple

A Hindu temple will soon move into the 14-acre banquet hall of a former golf club in Lehigh County.

The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Hindu Temple announced on Christmas Day that they would occupy this part of the 144 acre golf club, which Lower Saucon Township purchased for $1.44 million in 2014, according to Lehigh Valley Live.

The golf club closed in 2012.

“Many Hindus of the area have been commuting to a temple Edison in New Jersey for worship services,” said a statement released by Rajan Zed, President of Universal Society of Hinduism.

According to Zed, the new Hindu temple will become operational in 2015.

The congregation got approval for a permit to use the land days before Christmas, the Morning Callreported.
