Long, violent Philadelphia night leaves six dead, suspects at large

Philadelphia police are investigating the deaths of six people on Tuesday in separate homicides and a motorcycle crash that may be related to area gunfire.

The first incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Baltimore Avenue where authorities said that a triple stabbing resulted in one fatality and two injuries, CBS reported. An arrest was made, and a weapon was recovered.

Next, a North Philadelphia double shooting on North Van Pelt Street left a 21-year-old man dead with a gunshot to the neckand a 22-year-old man in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his head,ABC reported. There have been no arrests.

Around 8 p.m., a Grays Ferry motorcycle rider crashed into a wall and died near the corner of 23rdand Morris streets, according to CBS. Police said nearby gunshots at the time of the crash may be related, but it remains unclear what caused the gunfire or the crash.

At 8:15 p.m., the 1400 block of North Vodges Street in West Philadelphia was the scene of gunfire, again with fatal results, ABC reported. A 22-year-old man was killed in the incident, which does not have a clear motive or any arrests.

Just 15 minutes later, another shooting left one person dead on the 2400 block of North Hollywood Street in Strawberry Mansion, CBS reported.

The 3100 block of Abbottsford Avenue in East Falls was the scene of Tuesday’s last homicide, according to ABC. One person was shot to death around 9:30 p.m.

Among the six killed wasOklahoma City ThunderguardDion Waiters’ brother, according to ESPN.

“We feel for Dion, man.He’s our brother, and it’s tough for anyone to go through that, and we have his back on everything,” Thunder playerKevin Durantwas quoted by ESPN.

Aside from the afternoon stabbing, no suspects have been taken into custody in connection to any of the deaths, ABC added.
