On Black Friday 2017, why not escape the urban jungle and shopping malls to the great outdoors?

If you’re concerned about getting there, rideshare company Lyft, has your back.

They’ll be offering free rides (up to $10) to the region’s most popular outdoor destinations like Wissahickon Valley Park, Penn Treaty Park, Pennypack Park, Benjamin Rush State Park, Bartram’s Mile and Fairmount Park.

You can get one free ride (either to or from) the outdoor destination using the code: OPTOUTSIDEPHL in the Lyft app.

“#OptOutside resonates with Lyft’s vision of a future where there are more parks—not parking lots—in our cities,” says Andrew Woolf, Lyft Pennsylvania General Manager. “We’re lucky to live in a place where beautiful parks and forested trails are so easily accessible, and we’re thrilled to provide our riders with a way to #OptOutside this Black Friday.”

Back in 2015, REI closed their stores on Black Friday and paid employees to spend the day outside, and encouraged America to do the same when they launched the #OptOutside movement.

Ever since, over 7 million people and 700 organizations have gotten involved.

“REI and Lyft share a passion for building happy, healthy communities,” says Ben Steele, REI Chief Creative Officer. “For us that means getting more people outside with their friends and loved ones. And we’re thrilled to partner with Lyft to make it easier for even more people to #OptOutside on Black Friday.”
