A 23-year-old man is charged with shooting one of six people inside a Southwest Philly grocery store when he allegedly robbed the business at gunpoint Friday night.
Police allege Marcus Jordan opened fire on the 52-year-old victim at 68th Street and Buist Avenue after the man caught up to the 23-year-old robbery suspect there in his personal vehicle.
Jordan robbed one patron of cash and their cell phone before also stealing cash from Under the Apple Tree grocery store, located at 6729 Elmwood Ave., about 10:20 p.m. Friday, police said.
Police arrested Jordan near 2500 Massey St. following a brief pursuit and struggle. While pursuing the shooting suspect, police allegedly observed him toss a black handgun, which was recovered.
The 52-year-old shooting victim underwent emergency surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He sustained a gunshot wound to his chest in the hail of bullets at 68th and Buist, police said.
Jordan, who lives on the 2100 block of Etting Terrace, reportedly is being held on $2 million bail. He is charged with robbery, attempted murder and related charges, according to police.
