At least one person was killed and five others were injured in shootings late Sunday and early Monday across Philadelphia.

Police said a passerby found an unresponsive man Sunday night in Frankford Creek near Castor Avenue and Wingohocking Street in Juniata Park.

The man, whose age was not available Monday, had two gunshot wounds to the back of his head. Medics who arrived at the scene pronounced him dead at around 8:15 p.m.

Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace told 6ABC that investigators found a gun in the waistband of the man who was killed. No arrests have been made in the case.

Since Friday night, nine people have been fatally shot in Philadelphia, according to information provided by authorities.

Among them was a man, described as around 50 years old, who died shortly after being shot once in the chest at around 12:30 p.m. Sunday on 56th Street near Market Street in West Philadelphia, police said.

On Sunday morning, John Laylo, a 34-year-old attorney for the Philippine government who was visiting Philadelphia, succumbed to his injuries after someone fired into his Uber early Saturday morning on the 200 block of S. 38th Street in University City.

A total of 230 people have been killed in the city this year, down 11% from this point in 2021, when there had been 257 homicides, according to PPD data.

Elsewhere, a 56-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot in the foot just before noon Monday on the 300 block of E. Chelten Avenue in Germantown, authorities said. He is expected to physically recover.

In West Philadelphia, someone stabbed a 31-year-old woman in the shoulder at around 2 a.m. Monday on the 5500 block of Cedar Avenue, according to police. She was in stable condition following the stabbing.

Earlier, at around 12:30 a.m. Monday, a 38-year-old man was shot in the head, chest, thigh and hand on the 2200 block of N. Cleveland Street in North Philadelphia, investigators said. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

On Sunday, just before 11 p.m., gunfire struck a 20-year-old man in the hand on the 5300 block of Chew Avenue in East Germantown. Officers took the man to Einstein Medical Center, where he is expected to recover, police said.

A 19-year-old man was shot in the neck, arm and shoulder just before 10:45 p.m. Sunday near the corner of Ella Street and Wyoming Avenue in the Feltonville neighborhood, authorities said.

He was rushed to Temple University Hospital and is expected to survive.

In Kensington, someone shot a 33-year-old man once in the chest at around 6 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Boudinot and Somerset streets, according to police. The victim was hospitalized in stable condition.

Authorities did not report any arrests in the immediate aftermath of the violence.
