Police said a 34-year-old man was fatally shot in Northeast Philadelphia after he broke down the door of a house in search of his ex-girlfriend.

The incident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. Monday on the 1800 block of Sanger Street, according to authorities. He was shot multiple times in the chest, and medics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

He came to the home looking for his ex-girlfriend and became agitated, kicking the door for several minutes and yelling, investigators said. Eventually, the door came off and a man inside fired several shots.

Officers recovered a gun in the home. It’s unclear whether the shooter, who remained at the scene, will be charged. The shooting remains under investigation with the Homicide Unit.

In other news, a 20-year-old man was shot once in the right leg just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on the 8000 block of Rodney Street in the East Mount Airy neighborhood, police said.

He was rushed to Einstein Medical Center in stable condition. No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
