A pizza shop employee shot and killed an alleged robber Saturday night in Northeast Philadelphia, investigators said.
Two armed men entered George’s Famous Pizza, on the 5300 block of Oxford Avenue in the Northwood neighborhood, at around 8 p.m. and attempted to rob the shop, authorities said.
An exchange of gunfire ensued, and one of the robbery suspects, described as between 18 and 25 years old, was shot several times in his upper body and head, according to police. Medics declared him dead at the scene.
The other man ran away from the area, and no one else was injured, investigators said. No money or other valuables were taken from the shop, according to authorities. Police said officers recovered two guns.
