A man was shot in the head during a robbery in West Philadelphia early this morning.
The victim, 38, was approached on the 5300 block of Locust Street around 12:47 a.m. by two unknown men, who announced a robbery, police said. The men began to pistol whip the victim and took his cell phone.
The man attempted to fight off his attackers, but they shot him in the left side of his head. He was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he is in stable condition.
The suspects are described as two heavy-built black men, 5 feet 11, one with a beard and wearing a gray puffy coat and the second wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants and carrying a small black handgun.
Police have not yet made any arrests.
