At long last, March Madness is officially here. While many will take to the many eateries and watering holes found within Philadelphia, others may prefer to simply stay at home, watch some college basketball, enjoy a cold drink, and perhaps do so sans pants. If that sounds like a good time, then you want to celebrate the age-old Finnish tradition known as Kalsarikännit, and The Finnish Long Drink wants to help you.

Kalsarikännit is a Finnish word that literally translates as “pantsdrunk,” and honors the longstanding tradition of drinking at home in the comfort of only your underwear. The Finnish Long Drink, inspired by Finland’s national drink, “lonkero,” or “long drink,” is looking to support college basketball fans who are celebrating Kalsarikännit by supplying them with a six-pack of their award-winning cocktail for only $0.01.

“While college basketball is one of the most exciting times of the year, bars can sometimes be a less than ideal place to watch with crowds and distractions,” said Sakari Manninen, The Finnish Long Drink co-founder. “This felt like the perfect time to tap into the Long Drink’s Finnish roots and give drinkers another option – enjoying the games, pants-free or otherwise, in the comfort of their own home. Of course, for those who prefer to watch in the bar, we would strongly recommend wearing pants.”

Now through April 7, fans can avoid the chaotic hustle and bustle of the local bar scene and instead relax in the tranquility of their own home, where the only craze comes in the form of March Madness, and enjoy sparkling refreshment and ultimate relaxation. To be well on your way to celebrating March Madness Kalsarikännit-style, all one needs to do is buy a six-pack of The Finnish Long Drink, text them your receipt, and then Long Drink will Venmo or PayPal you directly for the difference within 24-48 hours.

The Finnish Long Drink was co-founded by Finns Sakari Manninen, Mikael Taipale, and Ere Manner, alongside American entrepreneur Evan Burns, and initially made its debut in 2018. The next year, Downington, PA native and critically acclaimed actor Miles Teller discovered the drink in 2019 while living in Manhattan. Teller was so fond of the drink that he became a co-owner shortly thereafter and helped oversee the brand’s impressive growth, including the debut of the cocktail in Teller’s home state late last year.
