Men arrested for Delaware burglary spree

Delaware State Police detectives arrested two people in connection with a burglary spree in northern Sussex County, investigators announced Thursday.

Authorities said a 69-year-old woman called police around 11:15 a.m. July 24 after she came home to her residence on Wilson Road and found an unknown man inside.

The suspect, who police said was later identified as Geoffrey Soucy, 29, allegedly fled the home in a gray Nissan Altima.

The victim gave emergency dispatchers a description of the car.

Within eight minutes, a police officer in Milton spotted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

Soucy, who was allegedly the car’s lone occupant, was taken into custody.

Police said a search of the Nissan turned up change and jewelry stolen from the home on Wilson Road.

Detectives through further investigation allegedly connected Soucy to at least 10 burglaries that occurred between June and July in northern Sussex and southern Kent counties.

Police said Soucy would during daytime hours burglarize unoccupied homes in the Lincoln, Milford, Greenwood and Ellendale areas, stealing televisions, computers and jewelry.

Soucy allegedly exchanged the items for cash at pawn shops.

Police said Michael Disanto, 24, on at least two separate occasions accompanied Soucy on the burglaries and conspired with him to pawn the proceeds.

Soucy, of Lincoln, was arraigned and charged with 12 counts of theft, 10 counts of second-degree burglary, seven counts of criminal mischief, six counts of theft by false pretense, two counts of second-degree conspiracy and one count each of firearm theft and possessing burglary tools.

He was jailed at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $45,750 secured bond.

Disanto, of Georgetown, was taken into custody Monday and charged with two counts each of second-degree burglary, theft and second-degree conspiracy, as well as one count each of possessing burglary tools, falsifying business records, theft by false pretense, selling stolen property and criminal mischief.

He was incarcerated at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $27,500 secured bond.
