Montco ‘neighbor from hell’ gets prison for arson

A Lower Pottsgrove woman was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison after being convicted of torching the house of a police detective who lived next door.

Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Gary S. Silow handed down the prison sentence to Donna Krupp on Thursday, calling her “the neighbor from hell,” Philly.com reported. Krupp was silent during the proceedings.

“What kind of person does something so violent, so twisted?” Judge Silow asked during the sentencing, Philly.com added.

In November, Krupp was convicted of setting fire to the home of Ernie Morris, a police detective who lived next door, the Intelligencer reported. Officials alleged that Krupp set the fire in retaliation for her son’s legal problems.

“All I ever tried to do ever was help that woman and her family,” Morris, speaking in court during the sentencing, was quoted by Philly.com. “What about the next police officer she comes in contact with?”

Morris and his family were on vacation at the time of the fire, which destroyed the house and killed the family’s 18-year-old cat Bandit, the Intelligencer added.

Krupp has maintained her innocence and has said that the day another person set the fire was “the beginning of hell” for her, according to Philly.com

“I don’t understand how I can be made out to be a monster by people who don’t even know me,” Krupp was quoted by Philly.com.
