Mt. Airy Fire Death Being Treated as Homicide

Police are investigating a suspicious death in a Mount Airy fire that occurred shortly after midnight this morning.

Authorities responding to a fire alarm in an apartment on the 1200 block of E. Cliveden Street saw smoke coming from the windows. Inside, they found a woman who appeared to be between 30 and 40 years old.

The woman had lacerations to her throat and her death is reportedly being treated as a homicide.

No arrests have been made and the woman’s identity has not yet been released.
