Murder suspect fires at police from Germantown rooftop before taking his own life

A 25-year-old woman was killed, and her suspected killer barricaded himself in a Germantown home on Tuesday before taking his own life.

According to police, an unidentified male – contacted Wednesday morning, police said they had to notify the man’s family before his identity would be released – is believed to have shot and killed 25-year-old Michelle Saint-Aude, before barricading himself in a nearby home and firing his weapon at police officers attempting to arrest him.

Law enforcement officials said the incident unfolded on Tuesday, after about 1:13 p.m., when police responded to reports of a homicide on the 1200 block of E. Sanger Street in Frankford, where witnesses told police that a man fired four shots at Saint-Aude and, when she fell to the ground, he stood over her and fired an additional shot into the dying woman’s body.

The man, police said, then fled southbound in an alley between Sylvester and Oakland streets.

First responders transported Saint-Aude to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where police said she was pronounced dead at 1:53 p.m. According to authorities, officers investigating her shooting then found the suspected shooter barricaded in a home along the 1300 block of East Haines Street.

A standoff ensued around 6:30 p.m. Police said the suspected killer fired several shots at police as he moved across Haines Street rooftops. At about 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, officers heard a muffled gunshot and raided the home, concerned that there might be another victim inside, according to CBS. 

Instead, officers found the unidentified suspect dead, according to police, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Law enforcement officials said that the incident remains under investigation.
