National Beer Day 2022: Where to celebrate in Philly

Whether you’re an avid beer drinker, a fan of the occasional cold one, or maybe even a self-proclaimed brew connoisseur, if there was any day to grab a pint or a bottle in Philadelphia, it’s this Thursday.

On April 7, National Beer Day 2022 will be in full swing in the City of Brotherly Love, and to celebrate, we’ve listed some of the best spots to kick back, relax, and enjoy some brews.

East Passyunk Avenue

Looking to make a whole trip out of celebrating National Beer Day 2022? South Philadelphia’s East Passyunk Avenue offers an abundant amount of options when looking to pick up a cold one. For example, Separatist Beer Project (1646 S. 12th St.) offers a rotating menu of house-made brews available in drafts and growlers, to be enjoyed for takeaway or sit-down. And as a release states, Cartesian Brewing (1326 E. Passyunk Ave.) the latest newcomer on the avenue, is already coming in strong during their freshman year with a Belgian-leaning line-up of saisons, ales, stouts and IPAs, providing a well-rounded selection for any beer enthusiast. Their latest offerings include Concrete Picnic, a British pale ale and Fake North with True Friends, a hazy pale ale.

Devil’s Den

This South Philly venue has always been a hub for all things Belgian when it comes to beer. But on top of that category, Devil’s Den also boasts one of Philadelphia’s largest curated craft beer offerings, and some upscale pub fare to go alongside it. To make National Beer Day 2022 even better, the venue will be taking $1 off all Pennsylvania drafts from Hazy IPAs, to Belgian Triples, to Nitro Milk Stouts. All brews are available to purchase and enjoy at their outdoor streetery or indoors, as well as to-go in the form of six-packs and growlers.

Philadelphia Brewing Company

It wouldn’t be the sud-filled holiday without a stop at the Philadelphia Brewing Company. As the city’s largest and oldest brewery located in Kensington, this hotspot holds an outdoor beer garden, open for service year-round with bench style, covered seating, and a selection of unique brews—such as the Kenzinger and Walt Wit. All options are available for imbibers to purchase as six-packs and cases to-go, or to enjoy in pints alongside food trucks located just outside of the brewery.

The Bourse

Philly’s own lavish food hall is celebrating the upcoming holiday in a big way. From April 7 to 9, The Bourse will be hosting a three-day pop-up in celebration of National Beer Day 2022. While there, Philly-area Chatty Monks Brewing Company and Upper Reach Meadery will be on-site serving up a selection of brews and meads, from 3 to 9 p.m. However, the pop-up is just the beginning. According to a release, starting the first week of April, outdoor events will also be back at The Bourse Food Hall, kicking off with the first of monthly yoga and pilates classes with Thrive Yoga & Pilates on Thursday, April 7, followed by the return of weekly Friday Night Movie nights on Friday, April 8 (‘Angels in the Outfield’ is up first.) Following movie nights will screen ‘A League of their Own’ on April 15, ‘Rookie of the Year’ on the 22nd and ‘The Sandlot’ on the 29th. The outdoor fitness classes officially return to the 5th Street patio (and will be held the first Thursday of every month this spring and summer.) Officially titled Namaste and IPAs, during this new collaboration with Thrive Yoga & Pilates, Philadelphians will be able to participate in a yoga or pilates class (depending on the date) and also get a beverage from Freebyrd Chicken. In celebration of National Beer Day on Thursday, attendees at the first Namaste and IPAs will also be able to enjoy PAYG brews and meads from Chatty Monks and Upper Reach.
