Needles reportedly found in Kennett Square Halloween candy

Kennet Square police announced at 2 p.m. Sunday that another child turned in candy with a needle in it.

“Shortly after noon today, a twelve year old child turned in a Snickers bar that he found in his candy to contain a similar sewing type needle to that which was found in the Twix bars,” police said.

“The child reported he had been trick-or-treating in the same general area as the other children,” police said.

All of the children who received the candy were aged between 7 and 12, police said.

Trick-or-treaters in suburban Chester County were reportedly exposed to danger by an unknown individual who placed needles in candy bars.

OnHalloween, sewing needles were found inside five wrapped Twix bars given to four different children in the borough of Kennett Square, police said.

“There are no known injuries and there has been no known ingestion by anyone,” officer Christopher Gravin said in an email.

Police are still investigating the incident.

“The candy and packaging have been submitted for processing and examination,” the Kennett Square Police Department said.”The Police Department continues to urge parents to check all candy received prior to ingestion, and people with candy left over that was not distributed to check it for tampering.”

The candy was handed out to children trick-or-treating in the Stenning Hills area of the borough, which bordersSouth Union Street and West South Street, police said.
