New Jersey is a Disaster Area

President Obama signed a declaration yesterday telling us what we all already know: New Jersey is a disaster area.

On a serious note, Hurricane Irene hit areas of the state hard, causing flooding, power outages, transportation problems and structural damage.

Gov. Chris Christie said at a news conference yesterday that he didn’t want to wait for
Washington to make budget cuts to offset the cost of aid before receiving relief.

“Our
people are suffering now, and they need support now. And they [Congress] can all
go down there and get back to work and figure out budget cuts
later,” he told reporters.
