New reality show focused on returning veterans to film in Philadelphia-area

A dozen military veterans who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan will be the basis of new reality show that will be filmed in the Philadelphia-area.

Bands of Brothers, a non-profit organization created to raise awareness for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and funding for treatment of the condition, will film the show. The concept is that 12 vets will form three rock bands to prepare for a performance in front of a packed crowd at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia.

The bands will be taught at the Cherry Hill School of Rock in New Jersey and get advice from some celebrity musicians and professional stylists along the way. The show will be filmed in 10 episodes to be broadcast online.

Kera Armstrong, a spokesperson for the organization, said casting is taking place now through the end of August, with filming and production expected to begin in early September.

The show is casting both male and female vets from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. Applicants must have some musical foundation. Those interested in being cast for the show can visit the website, go to the casting call page and fill out the application.

Armstrong said all proceeds from the program will support Bands of Brothers programs and initiatives, and Give an Hour, a national nonprofit that provides therapy and counseling to vets nationwide suffering from PTSD.
