Newest Eagle weighs in on Penn St. sex scandal

The Penn State scandal has filtered all the way into the Eagles’ locker room.

Brett Brackett, the newest member of the team’s practice squad and proud Penn State alum, was immediately swarmed yesterday by reporters. Shockingly, none of them wanted to hear about his new job.

Brackett, who caught 39 balls for 525 yards last season as a senior captain, shared his thoughts on the sex scandal rocking his alma mater.

“First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims, which is something you can never imagine having to deal with,” he said.

Brackett said he hasn’t been following the case too closely, as he tries to learn the Eagles’ playbook, and never had any contact with disgraced former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.

“I went about my business, and he didn’t really come across my path,” Brackett said.

However, he did share his opinion on his former coach, Joe Paterno, who announced his retirement after 46 seasons patrolling the Penn State sideline.

“Everybody has their time. My grandfather constantly says that nobody gets out of this world without ends,” said Brackett. “So whether it’s an end to your career, end to your life, things come to an end. Obviously, it’ll be a sad day for that to happen, but it happens to everybody.”

As Brackett was concluding his comments one Eagle streaked by and shouted, “It’s wrong, Paterno. It’s wrong.”
