Prosecutors said yesterday they are still considering whether to seek the death penalty for West Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell.
Gosnell, charged with killing seven newborn babies and a female patient at his clinic, was arraigned yesterday along with nine workers who are also charged. Prosecutors introduced aggravating factors that would allow them to pursue the death penalty for the 70-year-old Gosnell, although the decision has not been made.
Gosnell’s attorney, Jack McMahon, said his case will focus on “how these abortions were done and what methods were used. … It’s a different version of these incidents than the defense is offering.”
Prosecutors also received more time to decide whether they will seek capital punishment for three other defendants. Gosnell remains in prison without bail.
