Seven people were injured when a fire broke out at a single-family home
on the 1600 block of North 20th Street in North Philadelphia early this morning.
Firefighters
arrived shortly before 6 a.m. and battled the blaze for 45 minutes before extinguishing it. A
woman and child were both rescued and taken to Hahnemann University
Hospital, where they were treated for smoke inhalation, along with two
others who escaped on their own.
Three firefighters were also injured, one of them with burns. All are in stable condition.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
