North Philly triple shooting leaves woman dead

An 18-year-old woman was killed early Monday morning in a triple shooting in North Philadelphia, authorities said.

Gunfire erupted at around 3 a.m. on the 1700 block of N. 16th Street, police said. The woman, who had been shot in the head, died just before 4:45 a.m. at Temple University Hospital.

A man, described as around 20 years old, was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his chest. He is expected to survive, according to authorities.

The third victim, a 28-year-old man, was hit once in the left arm. He was later listed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital.

A 15-year-old girl was injured when shots rang out at around 12:45 a.m. Monday outside on the 1400 block of N. Sydenham Street, also in North Philadelphia, police said.

She was struck in the right leg and taken in a private vehicle to Roxborough Memorial Hospital, investigators said. She is expected to physically recover.

On Sunday night, a shooting at Shissler Recreation Center in Kensington left an 18-year-old man in critical condition.

Police said the man was shot in the head, right arm and left hand at around 11:30 p.m. on the basketball court at the rec center, located at 1800 Blair Street. He is being treated at Temple University Hospital.

In Kingsessing, at around 1:30 p.m. Monday, a 22-year-old man was shot in the right knee on the 1400 block of S. 55th Street. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was in stable condition.

Earlier in the day, just before 11:45 a.m., a 22-year-old woman was also shot in the right knee on the 8700 block of Frankford Avenue in the Upper Holmesburg section of Northeast Philadelphia, authorities said.

She was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital and is expected to physically recover.

A gunman broke into a Southwest Philadelphia home and fired several shots Monday morning during a robbery while a mother and her young children were inside, investigators said.

It occurred just before 11 a.m. on the 6300 block of Kingsessing Avenue, according to police. He came in through the basement and fired five shots, though a 32-year-old woman and her children, ages 10 and 1, were not injured.

He took a purse, laptop and television before running out the back door and going into a house nearby on the 6300 block of Regent Street.

There, authorities declared a barricade situation, leading to a standoff that lasted more than an hour, investigators said. Just before 1 p.m., a SWAT team entered the home, but he had already fled the area.

No one was wounded during the ordeal, police said.

Police reported no arrests in any of the shootings.
