A police officer was hospitalized after a confrontation on 17th Street near Mt. Vernon Street turned violent this afternoon.
Details are murky, but the officer tried to stop two people around 11 a.m., then called for assistance as a disturbance broke out and he became injured.
The officer sustained a cut to his forehead and was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he is in stable condition.
