A 29-year-old man was fatally shot Monday night in East Germantown, and a gunman died after he was apparently run over by a car in North Philly.
Officers responded to the 1100 block of E. Stafford Street just before 10 p.m. and found 29-year-old Delfon Cain, who lived nearby, with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and torso, police said.
Cain was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center but died minutes later. No arrests have been made.
Earlier Monday, at around 8 p.m., a 34-year-old man was hit by a vehicle on the 1700 block of N. 27th Street, authorities said. Investigators believe the man was standing near the curb firing a handgun immediately before the crash.
The man later died at the hospital from what authorities say is blunt force trauma consistent with being hit by a car. Officers on the scene found shell casings near his body.
Police said the vehicle hit another car while fleeing the scene. Detectives continue to investigate.
Homicides and shootings in Philadelphia are both up about 15 percent compared to the same point last year. Police data shows 141 people have been killed, and 554 have been shot in 2020.
Six others were injured in shootings Monday, and a man escaped with a graze wound after gunfire rang out early Tuesday morning in Logan.
Detectives are investigating after a man and a woman were found with gunshot wounds at around 11:30 p.m. Monday in West Philly.
Police found a 22-year-old man on the 4100 block of Girard Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body, and, around the corner, officers located a 23-year-old woman in the backseat of a Chevrolet Impala.
The car appeared to have hit a fire hydrant, and investigators found a significant amount of blood on the front seats. Authorities also recovered a firearm.
Both victims are listed in stable condition, according to police.
In Hunting Park, a 28-year-old man was shot in the hip just after 1 p.m. on the 3100 block of Franklin Street, police said. He was transported to Temple University Hospital and immediately taken into surgery.
A 42-year-old woman was also hit in the left arm by a stray bullet from the Franklin Street shooting. She’s in stable condition, police said.
Officers rushed a 36-year-old man to the hospital at around 12:30 p.m. after he was shot in the upper left arm by a pair of assailants on the 3100 block of E Street in Kensington, police said.
A 30-year-old man was also shot during an attempted robbery at 3 a.m. Monday on the 4900 block of Rubicam Street in Logan. He is being treated for gunshot wounds to the groin and thigh, authorities said.
Early Tuesday morning, police found a bullet-ridden 1989 gray Chevrolet Caprice with the engine on and the driver’s door open on the 5000 block of N. Warnock Street. A 36-year-old man who investigators believe was the victim showed up to Einstein with a graze wound to the back of his head.
No arrests have been reported in connection to any of the shootings.
Police searching for suspect in assault, shooting
Authorities released surveillance video Tuesday showing a “person of interest” related to a sexual assault and shooting that occurred Sunday on the 7400 block of Brockton Road in Overbrook Park.
A man wearing a ski mask broke into a basement apartment at around 5:20 a.m. and sexually assaulted a woman. When the woman’s roommate confronted him, he shot her in the abdomen, police said.
The roommate is in critical condition, according to FOX29.

Authorities investigating hate crime
Investigators are also looking for information about who spray painted swastikas along Market Street between 19th and 23rd streets this past weekend.
Members of the public discovered the graffiti at around 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The word “Rome” accompanied one swastika painted on a newsstand on the 1900 block of Market Street, police said.
“Our detectives are actively investigating these heinous acts, and those responsible will be held accountable,” Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said in a statement. “We have also advised our stakeholder partners of these incidents, and will continue to update them on the status of the investigation.”
