A Swarthmore College student is hospitalized after he was stabbed during an Italian soccer brawl, according to a report from The Associated Press.
The man, one of three local students injured in the melee, was hurt on Thursday when Italian soccer hooligans armed with knives and metal rods attacked fans of England’s Tottenham team before a game at a Rome pub.
The victim was reportedly studying abroad in the country through a Temple University program and was with friends at the bar, a popular watering hole for visiting Americans.
A Temple University spokesman told the AP that the student is recovering and is expected to be released this week. Two Italian men have been charged in connection with the incident.
