The parents of a six-week-old boy in Lancaster County have been charged with murder after authorities said the newborn was beaten to death in their apartment.
Andrew Moyer Sr., 24, and Brianna Michael, 23, were arrested Wednesday and held without bail in the death of Andrew Boyer Jr., the Associated Press reported.
Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman said the boy was “tortured” and abused several times before a final beating causing fatal brain injuries.
The boy was found dead Oct. 18 by his grandmother in the couple’s Columbia apartment, the AP reported. Arrest documents show he suffered broken ribs, burns and severe internal injuries.
While authorities have not said who delivered the fatal blow, both parents are charged because they did not seek medical attention.
