Parents won’t face charges after 3-year-old found in Camden water park

Police have located the parents of a 3-year-old girl found alone on Saturday inside a water park and said no criminal charges will be filed.

According to a statement released Sunday by CamdenCounty Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Clementon Police Chief Randall Freiling, there was no criminal conduct behind the incident in which a girl was found alone at Clementon Park and Splash World.

Clementon Police responded at 8:30 p.m. Saturday to reports that employees of the park had found a 3-year-old girl left there.

The child was turned over to theNJ Division of Child Protection and Permanency.

The parents of the child contacted police around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

“They indicated they had thought the girl was staying at her grandmother’s home,” authorities said in their statement. “Detectives interviewed the girl’s grandmother. It was learned the girl was at the park with a group of approximately 24 people, including children and other adults. When the group exited the park, the grandmother thought the girl had left in another car.”

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office will not file criminal charges, but the girl’s “well-being” will be evaluated by social-services workersbefore she is returned to her parents, authorities said.
