Authorities yesterday arrested the woman who allegedly left her newborn baby girl in a curbside cardboard box, police said.
Officers from the Special Victims Unit took Patricia “Dina” Crawley into custody in a home on the 2700 block of Croskey Street in North Philadelphia around 3:45 p.m. She will be charged with attempted murder and related offenses.
Crawley has a criminal history– according to court documents, she pleaded guilty to simple assault in February 2011 and was sentenced to a minimum of 23 days and a maximum of a year and 10 months Nov. 4, 2011. That was 48 days before two men cleaning the streets recovered her alleged baby from a pile of litter.
The men found the hours-old child, named Baby Noel by workers at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, covered in blankets on a Strawberry Mansion curb Dec. 21, 2011. They nearly tossed her into a trash pile, but heard her cry when they picked up the box. Her umbilical cord was still attached.
