Report: Legendary Blue Horizon to become Hotel Blue?

Storied North Broad boxing venue The Legendary Blue Horizon may soon be reincarnated as The Hotel Blue on Broad, according to PlanPhilly.

Mosaic Development Partners and their associates reportedly presented their design to the City Planning Commission Tuesday for the proposed $28 million, 87-room boutique hotel, which includes at least two restaurants and a jazz club. An eight-story addition would house most of the suites, while a large capacity multipurpose room would take up a chunk of the space Sports Illustrated once called the last great boxing venue in the world.

Under an agreement with Temple University, hospitality students would intern at the hotel and it would create 86 permanent jobs, the site said. The developers have already received a $6 million state redevelopment grant to make it happen.
