Over the course of a week, a man has allegedly sexually assaulted four women in South Philadelphia, and police are seeking the public’s help in identifying him.
In a surveillance video released by police Wednesday, the suspect,riding a bicycle, approaches a woman from behind, touches her inappropriately and pedals away:
The first assault occurred on Aug. 6 on the 1800 block of South 15th Street around 1 a.m. The suspect rode past the 24-year-old female victim and assaulted her from behind, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. The second incident, on Aug. 10, occurred on the 900 block of Lombard Street. Around 10:15 p.m., the suspect approached a 42-year-old woman from behind on a mountain bike. He reached out to assault her, and fled the scene. The third incident, seenin the video above, occurred around 12:10 p.m. on Aug. 13 on the 700 block of South Eighth Street.
Later that night, around 2:30 a.m., the suspect, who was traveling on foot, approached a woman exiting her parked car on the 2000 block of South 13th Street. The suspect touched her inappropriately, and fled when the victim, a 39-year-old woman, began screaming. The suspect is described as a young Latino man, between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-6 with a medium complexion and short black hair. In an earlier assault, he was clean shaven and wearing a turquoise polo shirt and carrying a black backpack with orange sides. In another assault, he was described as wearing a multi-colored shirt, police said.
