Philadelphia paramedic wrapped up in sex scandal

The city’s Inspector General’s Office is investigating whether more than a dozen firefighters engaged in sexual misconduct while on-and off-duty and around the city.

Regarding the report, Mayor Nutter said earlier today “it’s a personnel matter, and we don’t comment on personnel matters.”

Joe Schulle, president of IAFF Local 22 firefighters union, released a statement indicating he was aware of the investigation “but cannot and will not comment, as we do not know the specifics of the allegations or the conclusions drawn in the I.G.’s report.”

The report stems from a complaint filed by a female paramedic in June claiming another medic acted inappropriately, according to the Daily News. The newspaper had spoke with Lloyd Ayers, the former fire commissioner.

After the paramedic filed her complaint, word spread that she had had sexual relations with more than a dozen firefighters, paramedics, and supervisors in firehouses, both on-and off-duty, throughout the city, the newspaper reported.

Police investigated the matter, but no criminal charges were filed. The investigation was turned over to the Inspector General, who investigates corruption by city workers, according to the newspaper.
