An off-duty Philadelphia Police officer was hospitalized on Saturday after brawling with his 39-year-old neighbor – who refused to pick up his dog’s dirt.
And then on Monday police identified the neighbor.
According to a news releaseJordan Lunsk, of the 6400 block of Argyle Street, walked past the cop’s Northeast Philadelphia house – which is a block away on Oakley Street – around noon Saturday with his dog.
While the cop tinkered with his car outside of his Lawndale home he watched Lunsk’s dog defacate on his front lawn. And Lunsk didn’t pick it up.
The cop confronted Lunsk, and the two exchanged words, but the dog owner walked away.
Not long after he returned – this time without his dog – and confronted the cop again and the two started fighting.
Lunsk got a few good punches to the cop’s face, and then pulled the cop’s hooded sweatshirt up and over his head and continued the assault. Lunsk pulled the cop forward and bent him over and continued the assault from behind.
The officer then whipped out his gun – which was holstered to his hip – and fired backward. He hit the dog-walker in the right thigh.
Lunsk was treated and released from Albert Einstein Medical Center.
The officer was treated for facial lacerations and bruises and released from Jeanes Hospital.
Lunsk was charged with aggravated assault, criminal trespassing and simple assault, among others.
Pending the outcome of an internal investigation and review by the District Attorney’s office, the cop will be placed on desk duty.
