The Philadelphia School District will close all schools at noon today due to the heat and humidity, officials said.
The early dismissal will also affect early childhood programs, and all afterschool activities and programs will be canceled, according to a statement on the district’s website.
Temperatures are expected to go up to 85 degrees today and with humidity it will feel like 87 degrees, according to AccuWeather. The district said the humidity levels could put students at risk to become ill.
This is the second time in the last three weeks the district has canceled classes early due to heat. On May 29, students were let out at 1:30 p.m.
Parents and guardians can check the district’s website for more information or call the hotline at 215-400-INFO (4636).
