Irish eyes will certainly be smiling at Sunday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade in Philadelphia. For those lucky lads who plan to go, Metro has all the details.
When, where, and how to celebrate
Philadelphia’s 255th edition of the parade celebrating Irish culture will start at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 16, following a 9 a.m. Catholic Mass at Saint Patrick’s Church on 20th and Locust streets in Center City.
This year’s parade route will begin at 16th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard and proceed north along 16th to Benjamin Franklin Parkway. From there, it will continue onto the Parkway before ending at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where the parade’s performance area and main grandstands will be located.

Can’t make the parade in person? The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be broadcast live on CW Philly 57 from noon to 3 p.m. and streamed live on CBS News Philadelphia. You can also catch an encore of the broadcast on Monday, March 17, from 9 a.m. until noon on CBS Philadelphia, and a replay of the parade will be aired on St. Patrick’s Day beginning at noon on Philly57 and the CBS Philadelphia stream.
Road closures, parking restrictions
Beginning at 5:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., Eakins Oval (from Kelly Drive to Spring Garden Street) will be closed.
In addition, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th streets will be closed between Market and Arch streets, and John F. Kennedy Boulevard will be closed between 15th and 20th streets.
16th Street between Market and Cherry streets the Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 16th Street and Eakins Oval will also be closed for Sunday’s parade. All neighboring cross streets on Benjamin Franklin Parkway from 16th to 22nd Street will also be closed.
There will also be parking restrictions in place. Attendees are encouraged to use public transportation.
